READ
Catherine has lived in Fairfax City for over 22 years in the Old Lee Hills, Providence Square, and Farchester Woods neighborhoods. She’s currently on the Advisory Council of the Virginia Poverty Law Center, the Equality Virginia PAC Board, and the current Board Chair of GrandInvolve. For the last decade, she has hosted several Fairfax Public Access shows, including Inside Scoop, Your Need to Know, and Making Change Radio.
For almost a decade, she served on the Board of Directors of Britepaths (formerly Our Daily Bread – Fairfax) and was previously served on the boards of Virginia’s List, Equality Virginia, and NARAL Pro-Choice VA PAC Board (now REPRO Rising Virginia.)
Catherine’s three children are graduates from Fairfax High School. Catherine is a graduate of George Mason University with a B.A. in Government & Politics (’84) and moved into the first dormitories ever built on the Fairfax Campus in October 1981. Catherine and her husband, Tom Greeson, are active in local and state politics and enjoy living in the Fairfax City community while running her local social media consultancy business.

In November 2022, Catherine Read was elected Mayor of the City of Fairfax. She was sworn in on January 1, 2023, becoming the first female mayor in the city's history.
